A digital business card is a QR code that opens a page about you instead of encoding your details directly. Whoever scans it sees your photo, name, title and company, a row of buttons to call, email, find your office, or follow you, and a Save Contact button that puts you in their phone.
Because the QR code points to the card rather than containing it, you can change anything on the card after it’s printed. New title, new number, new company: update it once and every card you’ve ever handed out shows the new details.
What’s on the card
- Your photo in a circle or rounded square.
- Name, title and company. The company name can link to your company’s site.
- A short bio (optional, up to 280 characters).
- A Save Contact button at the top, where people expect it.
- Up to 12 buttons, each with its own label and subtitle: phone, text message, WhatsApp, email, office address (opens in Maps), website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, or any custom link.
Labels are yours to write. “Call me”, “Book a demo”, “Visit my office”, “Follow my LinkedIn”: whatever fits how you work.
How Save Contact works
Tapping Save Contact sends your details as a standard contact file (.vcf), the same format phones use when you share a contact, with your photo and links included:
- iPhone: the contact opens, ready to save.
- Android: the file downloads; opening it adds you to Contacts.
Either way the contact includes a link back to your card, so it can always find your latest details.
It’s honest to say this is one more step than a vCard QR code, which saves directly from the camera. The trade is that a digital card can be updated, carries your photo and links, and tells you whether people actually saved you.
Design it to match your brand
Start from one of six themes, then make it yours:
- Themes: Clean, Slate, Midnight, Forest, Twilight, and Ocean, from crisp white to dark and photo-style backgrounds.
- Backgrounds: a solid color, a gradient, or your own photo with adjustable blur and darkening so text stays readable.
- Colors: text, the Save Contact button and its label.
- Buttons: solid, frosted glass or outlined, with brand-colored or single-color icons.
- Shape: subtle, rounded or extra-rounded corners, and a circle or rounded photo.
The editor shows a live phone preview as you work, rendered exactly the way the card appears when scanned. The QR code itself gets the same custom colors and styles and logo options as any QRSync code.
Edit anytime, no reprinting
Your card lives at a short link like qrsync.io/qr/abc1234, which is what the QR code encodes. Change your details, buttons or design in the dashboard and the next person to scan sees the update. Nothing about the printed code changes.
You can also pause a card from the dashboard. While paused, scanning shows a “currently unavailable” page instead of your details.
See who saves you
Every card comes with analytics. On every plan, including Free:
- Card views: how many times your card was opened.
- Contacts saved: how many people tapped Save Contact, and your save rate (saves per view).
- Button taps: how often people use your buttons.
Paid plans add daily trends, which buttons get tapped most, and devices, browsers and timing: iPhone vs Android, and the hours and days your card gets scanned.
Link previews (when someone pastes your card link into a chat app) and crawlers aren’t counted, so the numbers reflect real people. For how to read these numbers, see QR code analytics: what to track.
Private by default
Card pages aren’t shown in search engines unless you switch that on. The card page has no cookies and no tracking scripts; taps are counted on our server as the link opens.
Digital card or vCard QR?
| vCard QR code | Digital business card | |
|---|---|---|
| What the QR holds | Your contact details | A link to your card |
| Saving the contact | One tap from the camera | Opens your card, then Save Contact |
| Works offline | Yes | No, needs a connection |
| Edit after printing | No, reprint | Yes, anytime |
| Photo, buttons, bio | No | Yes |
| Views and saves analytics | No | Yes |
| Price | Free | 1 free card; more on paid plans |
If your details never change and speed is everything, a vCard QR code is hard to beat, and it’s free. If you change roles, want your photo and links in front of people, or want to know whether your cards are working, a digital card is the better tool. The full comparison goes deeper.

Frequently asked questions
How is a digital business card different from a vCard QR code?
A vCard QR code stores your details inside the code itself: one scan, one tap, and you’re saved, even offline, but it can’t be changed after printing. A digital business card QR opens a hosted card page with your photo, buttons and a Save Contact button. It takes one more tap and needs a connection, but you can edit it anytime and see how many people viewed and saved it.
What happens when someone taps Save Contact?
Their phone gets your contact file (.vcf) with your photo, details and links. An iPhone shows it ready to save; on Android it downloads, and opening it adds you to Contacts. The saved contact includes a link back to your live card.
Can I update my digital business card after it’s printed?
Yes. Edit your card in the dashboard and the changes are live on the next scan. The printed QR code never changes, so cards you’ve already handed out keep working with your new details.
What can I track?
On every plan: card views, contacts saved, save rate and total button taps. Paid plans add daily trends, which buttons get tapped, device and browser, and time of day. Link previews from chat apps and crawlers aren’t counted as views.
Which plans include digital business cards?
Every plan includes digital business cards: Free and Essential include 1, Pro includes 5 ($2.49/month), Business 25 ($9.99/month), and Enterprise 100 ($19.99/month). Cards have their own allowance, separate from your dynamic QR codes.
Do digital business cards expire?
No. A card stays live as long as your plan includes it. If you downgrade to a plan with fewer cards, the extra cards are paused rather than deleted (newest first, so the cards most likely in print stay live), and you can reactivate them by upgrading.
